Campus Sport at Northumbria

At Northumbria University we know that all study and no play is no fun, so this year we have put together the biggest most exciting Campus Sport programme ever.

Our Campus Sport programme offers Northumbria students and staff the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports in a relaxed and informal environment.

You can learn a new sport or expand skills you already have on your own or with a group of friends.

We will also be running sporting events and additional activities throughout the year in disciplines such as Women’s Football, Cardio Tennis, and Self-Defence to name a few. More information is coming soon on these activities so make sure you check back regularly to keep up to date! 

Start Programme

Our Start Programme offers a fun approach to sport and allows you to get introduced to a new sport. The Programme is offered in a number of sports and most run for one hour a week for five weeks. 

Semester 2 offers you the chance to bring a friend for free! 

Our Start Programme is open to Northumbria students and staff irrespective of sporting backgrounds or abilities and is available in the following sports:

The public also has access to Start Climbing, Golf and Swimming

Develop Programme

Our Develop Programme provides the ideal opportunity for progression from our Start Programme. This Programme is suitable for those who have some experience in a sport and want to Develop their skills!

Semester 2 offers you the chance to bring a friend for free!

Our Develop Programme is open to Northumbria students and staff and is available in the following sports:

Develop Climbing and Swimming is also open to the public.

Advance Programme

Our Advance Programme in selected sports provides further opportunities for individuals to Advance their sporting skills, competencies and experience.

Semester 2 offers you the chance to bring a friend for free!

Intramural Leagues (Students Only)

Our Student Intramural Programme is the ideal way to keep active and have some fun in friendly competitions with your friends and other students. Our Intramural leagues run over nine weeks during each semester, with league matches leading up to the all important play offs to decide which team will take the glory as the winners!

Our Intramural Programme is offered in the following sports:

Sport Sessions

Northumbria University Sport acknowledges that not everyone is able to compete within the British University College Sport (BUCS) system.  However, we are committed to enhancing the student experience and try to offer a varied sporting offer that accomodates a wide range of people.

Therefore we will be offering sport sessions throughout the academic year starting at the beginning of October until the end of May (25 weeks).

The two hour sessions will be coached and are open to Northumbria Students, Staff and Public.

Payment must be made before attending the first session via our Online Booking System or at Sport Central Reception.

Here at Northumbria University Sport we strive to offer varied and exciting sporting opportunities as part of our Campus Sport Programme.

This year we will offer a range of stand alone activities and events to compliment the Campus Sport Programme so make sure you regularly check this section regularly to be kept up to date.
